Juana: The Film-Friday, April 22 7:30pm

A’lante Flamenco debuts the film version of their 2018 production “Juana: Primero Sueño (First I Dream)which depicts the life and work of Mexican poetess and nun Sor Juana Ines de la Cruz through the lens of flamenco. From her dual love of words and religion through her rebellion against the Church, “Juana” uses dream imagery, flamenco music and dance, and the voices of the Texas Early Music Project singers to transport viewers to Juana’s world. Film by Paul Shirley.

April 22, 2022, 7:30pm, doors open at 7pm.

Reservations are required since we have limited seating capacity! Masks are optional for this event.

“Juana: The Film” takes place at the Dougherty Arts Center, 1110 Barton Springs Rd., in Austin, Texas. Attendees with reservations may stop by the Dougherty Lobby to pick up a free parking pass! This pass is valid at any legal City of Austin pay parking spot. The pass does not guarantee you will find a spot nearby, so please arrive early to park.
